The formula to success is really simple, however, the journey
required to attain success is by no means easy. Developing
yourself as a person whilst on the path to entrepreneurship is
critical to long-term success. More importantly, the kind of
person you become, the character you build and the courage you
develop in the process is far more important than the success
itself.

Below is our manifesto. We use this in both our personal and
professional lives to guide the decisions we make so that we’re
consistently improving and challenging ourselves to be better.
As we’ve always said, a business is the sum of one, then a
hundred, then a thousand different decisions, and our manifesto
helps us to make the best decisions for ourselves and our
businesses by reminding us of what’s truly important.

Developing our Manifesto

It’s taken us 5 years to develop this manifesto as we’ve
undergone challenges, overcome struggles and worked our way
through to success. As we’ve struggled and persevered we grew
to understand what it means to be an entrepreneur and that it’s
more about the qualities that an individual possesses rather
than any skills or personal connections that makes an
entrepreneur successful. Skills and connections are important,
but if an entrepreneur doesn’t posses the qualities we outline
in our manifesto, they aren’t as likely to succeed.

What Our Manifesto Represents

The qualities in our manifesto no only represent who we are as
people and as a business, but they also represent the types of
people and businesses that we strive to work with. We aim to
work with companies whose visions and goals also align with our
own, so it’s important to us that when we partner with a
sponsor, promote a resource or feature a case study, that the
business in question also works and lives by our manifesto.
Businesses that operate by these standards produce quality
work, possess admirable traits and put their customers first
which is important to us and aligns with our own brand ethics.
We never want to work with a business that doesn’t have their
customer’s best interests at the core of their brand and so we
hold potential partners to a high standard when choosing to
work with them.

Our Manifesto

We hope you’ll use this manifesto to make the best decisions
for yourself and to help define your character on your own
entrepreneurial journey. Whether you’re making your first, your
first hundred or one of your first thousand decisions for your
business, using this manifesto as a guide you can challenge
yourself to improve every day.

Start Something

You can adjust your current path or change paths altogether as
your situation and journey dictates, but above all else, start
something. Don’t get caught up waiting for the perfect moment,
stalling for the most ideal circumstances or postponing until
you have more time, energy or money. Those excuses will do
nothing for you except waste more of your precious time so just
use what you have wherever you are and start something.

Keep Moving Forward

The secret to success is progress. If you can make progress on
a consistent basis you’ll constantly be moving toward success.
Don’t let yourself fall idle or become complacent, loosing
momentum will only hinder you further. Even if you’re only
taking the smallest of steps, or feeling like you’re taking
three steps forward and one step back, that’s still progress
and you’ll still be moving forward. Keep up your momentum.

Work Hard

Miscalculations, bad decisions, smarter competitors and market
shifts are all acceptable ways to fail on your journey. You
never want to fail because you didn’t work hard enough. Even if
you don’t have as much time or energy as you’d like to dedicate
to your entrepreneurial pursuits, work hard in the time you do
have and focus on working smarter. Give yourself the tools,
resources and headspace that will allow you to work efficiently
and productively so you can get work done in the time available
to you.

Fail Forward

Every failure is a step forward. Every time you fail you have
the opportunity to learn something from it and ease the anxiety
when you do it again. That’s progress in every sense of the
word. Don’t let the fear of failure hold you back from even
trying. Every successful individual in the world failed before
they ever succeeded, so you aren’t the first and you won’t be
the last. Don’t get down on yourself when you fail, chalk it up
to being a learning experience and try again more intelligently
the next time. That’s how you fail forward.

Take Responsibility for Yourself

Take responsibility for yourself, your choices, your attitude,
your actions, and your reactions. It’s one thing you’ll always
have control over. Realize that you cannot control others and
that their opinions and actions toward you have nothing to do
with you. Focus on your own goals, own up when you make a
mistake, stay in your own lane and be the one in control of
your own life.

Figure it Out

Everyday you’ll face new challenges, closed doors, limiting
barriers and seemingly insurmountable odds. Figure it out. No
one knows the answer to everything and oftentimes entrepreneurs
are faced with so many different obstacles they don’t know the
right answer to. Many of these obstacles won’t come with a
clear solution, so it’s going to be up to you to do your own
due diligence, weigh the pros and cons, conduct your own
research or just do some trial and error. You’ve got to be
willing to take the plunge and figure things out if you want to
achieve your goals.

Make the Difficult Choices

The easy choices, much like the easy paths, rarely lead you on
interesting journeys or to the right destinations. Make the
difficult choices and make them often. It’s not going to be a
pretty, smooth or seamless journey, there’s going to be painful
moments, sleepless nights, tough decisions and you might not
know if you’re making the right choice at the time. The point
is to make the choices you have to make when you have to make
them, though, or you’ll be hindering your own progress. It may
not be easy but that’s what makes it worth it.

Conclusion

We hope our manifesto inspires you to stick it out through the
tough times in your entrepreneurial journey, and we hope it
leads you to make progress towards your goals. So much of
successful entrepreneurship comes from possessing and executing
these traits rather than having a specific skillset or a
network of people that surround you. So many entrepreneurs have
achieved their goals by having the mindsets reflected in our
manifesto and you are no exception. Start something, keep
moving forward, work hard, fail forward, take responsibility
for yourself, figure it out, make the difficult choices and
you’ll be on your way to making the best decisions for your
business and challenging yourself to improve every day.
